I decided to go "Old School" for this pic, no Photoshop or digital enhancing of any kind, just brush, ink and acrylic wash. Since the game is trying to portrait a Sumi-e made world, I felt a piece done with traditional means was fitting for the subject at hand. I hope it is of the Okami's team liking.
This reminds me... I should finish Okami... I left off some time in December in that place where I actually have to sneak past the Demons using one of their paper face mask things. I was trying to draw the Hidden Leaf symbol with little luck... I had unplugged my PS2 to plug in some Christmas lights and I haven't been able to get myself to plug the PS2 back in. The plug is between my bed and the wall... >_> Too much of a hassle lately apparently...
Not to mention I adore Amaterasu, but this is amazing. Curvy and clean lineart, the dynamic feel to the colours... just flawless... to top it off, entirely with traditional media.
I don't know what to say, I just love this piece. (:
I bet you can still find copies of it on bargain bins or even new ones for very cheap. Unfortunately this jewel of a game did not sell well, not even after the Wii release. But if you can, get the PS2 version, trust me on this one.
I don't know the context but I can tell it's a very nice pic. Great use of traditional media! And good composition. I was just about buying colour pencils - something I haven't used for ages. It can't be harder than using mouse and GIMP I guess. Right? Just the rare left paw seems to be too long as for me.
