Well, talk about an experiment that blew up on my face! Ok so what is that about? you ask. Long story short... I tried a borderless, no line art technique for this piece thinking that it would help me to speed up the painting and shading process and while I'm happy with the results, it actually ended up making things more cumbersome and far more time consuming. So yeah! I'm going back to using my dear, clean and efficient line art. I'm not doing more illustrations without it!!

Btw the story behind his axe having a horn is because he was punished by his master on an failed escape attempt (Gladiators are slaves after all) by having one of his horns severed. But instead of this quelling Taurus spirit, that only renewed his resolve to continue fighting for his freedom and that of his kind. He recovered his lost horn and had it graphted in his Axe by a weaponmaster who also crafted a bronce horn to take the place of the lost one.
